What we do

From its beginnings in 1994, with a Bible delivery trip to China, The Messengers has always sought to support, encourage, and stand alongside Christians in the restricted nations of Southeast Asia.

Early missionary activity in this region laid a strong foundation for the work which continues today, but the expulsion of missionaries in the last century led to often extreme persecution and hardship amongst the people groups of these countries.  The Messengers is committed to supporting Christians in Asia as they work tirelessly, in the face of great opposition, to spread the good news of Jesus.

Who we support

We have the great privilege of partnering with many churches and leaders across the restricted lands of Asia, some of whom we work more closely with than others. Highlighted below are those countries with which we have specific links, as well as a list of the other countries we support in prayer.

Ways we support Christians in Asia

Bible delivery and printing – many Christians in Asia do not own a copy of the bible.

Bible training – for pastors, leaders and evangelists.

School and Orphanage support.

Mercy fund – supplying essentials to those who have been through traumatic, life-changing events.

Livelihood projects - church-based community development programmes.

Encouragement - through visitation, joining online meetings and attending national/international conferences.

Pray

“When you pray your arm becomes longer and your hand works with us”

Pastor B (Vietam)

Your prayers are vital. Despite our geographic separation, we can join in building God’s church through prayer. Whether alone, or as part of a small group, you can be directly involved with God’s people, plans and purposes in Asia through your intercession.

Why not sign up to receive our newsletter, which includes a daily Prayer Calendar as well as giving access to a monthly Prayer Pack, designed to support those praying in a small group.

Visit

Each year, we aim to send teams from the UK to visit and encourage Christians in the Access Restricted Nations of Asia. These trips normally last for one to two weeks and may include bible delivery, children’s ministry, teaching leaders, attending a conference or medical clinics. Please get in touch with us to find out more information about our next travelling opportunity.

Long Term Projects

Bible printing and delivery: MENT

There has never been greater need for people to access God’s word, so that they can stand firm on His promises. We praise God for the vision in 2009 to distribute the bilingual Myanmar-English New Testament (MENT) to young people throughout Myanmar and we give thanks that nearly 200,000 copies were distributed from 2017 to 2020.

Teaching: ‘Hope of Children School’, Dhaka

‘Hope of Children School’ opened in Dhaka (Bangladesh) in 2008 for Muslim and Hindu children from the slum streets of Middle Azampur. Whilst providing a good education for the future, the school aims to help children develop godly character and get to know Jesus.

The Messengers recently provided funds to equip the new school building and continues to support teaching staff financially.
